bill traylor (1939-1947)= a self taught alabama artist who painted on cardboard. born into slavery in 1854 on a plantation near montgomery, traylor began making art at the age of 82. his works are flat, simple, vibrant, expressive and full of folk stories.
this 'mobill traylor' was created for, and will be available to purchase at the
menil collection bookstore in houston, texas.
