backstage

( twigeli mobiles for joinerynyc)
i know i've neglected my regular postings, but have been working all the while from backstage. i mentioned recently in this babble interview a little bit about our family "thriving in the arts." right now my husband is touring with his band, the devil dogs for 3 weeks in spain and france (ha! ha!!! leaving me to look after 3 young ones:), and our  9 year old son, donovan baise, just finished a string of shows with the l.a. opera as placido domingo's grandson in verdi's:
the two foscari
(this photograph is taken from the l.a. opera website)
donovan w sisters in the arms of his father as placido looks on.
(backstage with placido and his sisters in costumes and wigs)
(little sidney in his bat costume)
and speaking of costumes, we're getting ready for halloween! autumn is officially here and i've been busy filling orders of
bats
origami garlands of fall leaves, mushrooms, more bats
and custom batmobiles. this one's for a little girl named sabine ( i love that name!)

oh julia! i really should have mentioned more about my husband's band. their last french show is tonight in montpellier. then they will go back to spain to play granada + more. his band is called the devil dogs and they're a garage rock band from nyc that played a lot in the early 90's. not sure if you would like the music although some songs are very sweet like this one:

I love these mobiles. I see a lot of work :)
Oh, the devil dogs were in my city a few days ago but I could not go see them, maybe next time.
And I´m very impressed by the career of your eldest son, too.
Good Weekend

Oh, that's so cool! Wow, singing with Placido Domingo is a great achievement. I don't know your husband's band, but I will ask some friends back in Spain.

Anyway, what I wanted to say is: your batmobile is truly awesome!!

Hey Kim. GREAT post. What a talented family. Impressed your husband is in the Devil Dogs - I remember them (showing my age!) Donovan Baise is the perfect name for an actor! Love Sidney's costume. Busy preparing a Halloween costume for my Sidney today too.
