and hanging out with miss pamela des barres!!
we took a nice bumpy and winding ride through laurel canyon in the hollywood hills to frank zappa's house, then to nichols canyon to the byrds and flying burrito brothers house..
and to jim morrison's (the doors)house. he lived in the yellow house on the corner (above) and miss pamela lived next door in the yellow house on top! miss p told us some wild stories of dancing naked in the picture window and jim's jealous girlfriend breaking all his demo records. supposedly, jim's old bathroom with hand written song lyrics are still in the house.
back down to hollywood on la brea and melrose is a jim morrison mural. we visited marilyn monroe's house, james dean's haunts, sal mineo's apartment and alley murder site,lots of great recording studios (where the stones and beatles recorded)and miss p's first apartment where she held wild parties with jimmy page. it was a whirlwind tour....
here's a fun one we took in front of the whiskey a go-go posed as the gto's and the flying burrito brothers!
the gto's were frank zappa's all girl band..that's miss p in the hat!
their only album was produced in 1969 by frank zappa
here's my autographed photo of pamela
if you haven't read any of her books yet, get one now because they're fantastic reads...
i read 'i'm with the band' in two days!!

that is an awesome adventure!!!
hi nancy,so awesome, like a dream.. i saw and learned things i probably shoul'dve never learned right here in l.a.! a total 60's mind expansion trip. so fun!!
I'll admit it Kim - I'm a wee bit starstruck! How do you know Pamela Des Barres??? Looks like you had an absolutely amazing weekend. GREAT photos. Girls weekends are very restorative I find! Also chuffed to know you visited some of the stars homes (Sal Mineo's apartment!) and recording studios. Tony (husband) and I did that years ago too. A highlight was our trek out to Herb Alpert's home. Tony was tempted to play his trumpet out the front as a salute.
Great post!
saskia, my friends arranged the 'hang-out with pamela'day. i really enjoyed touring laurel canyon and all the cool homes of musicians and actors and stories of the 60's and 70's. pamela is the coolest!
Super fun! Thanks for sharing and love the dress up pic.
hi nancy! and love that blue flower wallpaper in the dress-up shot too (;
