yesterday i ran my first test print of the "alphabet of architecture" on an old 1886 letterpress. this is a collograph that i ran through the press sans ink. for color i used scraps of origami paper leftover from my hearts. they were applied via chine colle with nori rice paste. no chemicals were used in this printing process. my plate was made with cardboard cutouts and glue.

it looks fabulous without ink....i am so excited for you...love little one's art work!
thanks shellie,i can't wait for tomorrow in the print studio! i'm going paper shopping today for some heavy arches coverwhite or rives bfk (two of my standard favorite print papers) hopefully they won't wrinkle or buckle like the test sheet.
how fun....i love paper shopping....arches is one of my favorites especially for watercolors....i love the smell of wet arches....i hate wrinkling....my kraft paper from the french paper company does that...i need to buy the 140lb instead of the 100lb....i hope you are having great luck today with printing....cant wait to see!
thanks again sf,you are always so thoughtful. i couldn't sleep thinking about using the new water based inks (i'm used to oil). the water based inks dry super fast so i'll have to keep spray misting before printing so it may have a different/natural tonal effect when finished.
but i resolve to go chemical free.
arches rules!
